Thomasville, Georgia Community

Thomasville is a thriving city in the heart of the southwest region of Georgia.  Located 29 miles north of the Florida Capital Tallahassee, Florida. Thomasville was founded in 1825 and is the county seat of Thomas County.  The city was a winter destination for northern snowbirds in the Victorian era, due to its mild winters and rail access. Our community is within 90 minutes of lakes, rivers and the Gulf Coast.


Today, Thomasville is a city with a culture steeped in history moving rapidly into the future.  Antebellum architecture abounds, along with brick-paved streets and moss draped canopy roads.  A vibrant downtown with shopping and dining experiences to rival any town of its size, attracts visitors from all over the Southeast.

Our heart warming Thomasville has an abundance of excellent public and private school options, a broad offering of sports and entertainment for all ages, and has excellent utility infrastructure, with the City government providing comprehensive utility and internet services.  Institutes of higher learning within 45 minutes of Thomasville include Thomas University, Florida State University, Florida A&M University and Valdosta State University.

In 1919, brothers William Howard and Joseph Hampton Flowers opened Flowers Baking Company in  Thomasville, Georgia .  In 1944, Flowers became the 6th bakery in the U.S. to franchise  Quality Bakers of America ’s  Sunbeam  brand and Little Miss Sunbeam for its white bread.

In 1968, the company became Flowers Industries, and began trading over-the-counter. Less than a year later, Flowers was listed on the  American Stock Exchange . In 1982, the company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol FLO.

Located in the heart of downtown, Flowers bakery fills the town with the scrumptious aroma of baked bread and cinnamon rolls throughout the year.
